The Office

Based on Ricky Gervais's hit BBC sitcom, this American remake stars Steve Carell as Michael Scott, the deluded general manager of a boring suburban workplace. A biting satire that skewers office life with devious relish, "The Office" co-stars John Krasinski as the lustful Jim, Jenna Fischer as receptionist Pam, Rainn Wilson as know-it-all Dwight and B.J. Novak as temp Ryan.

NASHUA – A basket full of gourmet chocolate -- a dieter's nightmare.
In the season opener of the hit NBC show "The Office," the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin Inc., the fictional paper goods company featured on the show, is pitted against other branches, including the Nashua branch, in a company-wide weight loss competition.
The Nashua branch decides to play dirty and sends the Scranton branch a basket of New England goodies, including Swan Chocolates, according to Michael Anderson, owner of the gourmet chocolate manufacturer that also has cafes in Merrimack and Nashua.
Production staff from the show contacted the Nashua Chamber of Commerce, which then contacted him, Anderson said.
Chris Williams, CEO of the Nashua Chamber, and an enthusiastic fan of "The Office," said staff from the show asked the chamber to help them find some local northern New England products.
"I'm a huge Office fan, so I said of course we can help you out," said Williams, who organized a party with the Nashua young professionals group IUGO to celebrate the first time the Nashua branch was mentioned on last season's show.

Williams contacted Anderson and they quickly put together a basket, including the chocolates and other Nashua items, then sent it overnight to California, where the show is produced.
"We thought, what better way to give a Nashua company exposure on a national stage," said Williams.
The show's producers said they would feature Nashua again this season, said Williams, so they asked for additional information about the Nashua area.
Anderson said he was told the cast would travel to Nashua in the second episode (though it'll be a fictional Nashua, not the real thing) and will visit a Swan Chocolates store.
"You'll never know what you'll get from it," said Anderson, when asked if he thought the use of his products on the show would increase his business.
"It's incredible exposure and a great opportunity," he said.
Anderson is also a fan of the show, and especially of Steve Carell who plays the head of the Scranton branch, Michael.
"If he's going to eat our chocolate on air, that would be great," he said.
Season five of "The Office" debuts with a one-hour episode on NBC on Sept. 25.
